The objective was to create a brand for the Academy's year-long celebration that encapsulated both the past and future aspirations of the organization, while being versatile enough to work in a myriad of applications.
AMPAS™ wanted to retain the elegance of it's history without being pretentious. The iconic statuette had to feature prominently & the logo had to read at a variety of sizes & applications. The "75" proved problematic as the shapes & negative space are awkward. I designed an elegant, hand-lettered approach that wrapped around the Oscar™ itself mimicking a tux & tails.

The brand unified the over 300 individual events and applications throughout the year, creating a single year-long event which culminated in the 75th Oscars™ in March of 2003.
