THANK YOU AND GOODBYE

You must have noticed by now that things at home are not going well.... I'm sure you've heard the shouting and the arguing. Sorry about that... I know you woke up many times frightened by the noise of things breaking.... Gradually things degraded and we were no longer able to continue together. You noticed that, didn't you? We gave you less and less attention. We played with you less and less because we were busy with our own things but all that will end. We've reached the end of the line and we'll go our separate ways... These are troubled times but I know you understand. We need to start over, leave this place and start our lives over. You started to see the boxes coming up and you tried to jump on them as if they were toys but they weren't... In them we closed only what each of us wanted to take... the books, the clothes... what we wanted to be part of the new life each of us will have... but we don't want you to worry. Nothing was ever your fault. We'll have some rough days, we'll exchange messages, laden with anger and resentment, with each other but don't worry. It was our fault. Time will heal everything... I know we gave you years full of love and you will keep it with you. You grew up surrounded by comfort and affection and we are proud of that. From now on everything will be different for us and for you... Sorry if it all ended... I'm sorry if we didn't reach an agreement... but don't worry. In time everything will be fine. We will. You. I'm sorry. None of us have room for you but we know you'll be able to find your way. I'm sorry that we don't have the courage to ask for help and try to find a new family for you but we value our privacy very much and we don't want it to be known yet that we have separated. We love you very much. We will leave you in the best box we have with the warmest blanket. You will stay on the streets, but we are concerned about leaving you in a well-sheltered place so that you do not get cold and with many people. We know that you will soon be welcomed by someone. A beautiful cat like you will find a family quickly. It may seem scary, but you are a cat. Cats are independent, and although you have lived at home, without ever going out, you will manage just fine on the street, with cars, strange people, noises... we believe in you.

Don't worry about anything. Don't worry about us. Everything will be fine. We will be fine. Little by little the kids will stop asking about you. Maybe we'll get you a new pet later when things calm down. Until then we want you to be well. Be very happy and thank you for everything.
