For the FInal, I altered the shadow of the horse to be blurry so the type of both figures did not interfere with one another. The Horse is made up of words commonly related to the time period, and the words are altered, and organized to create a shape of a horse. In order to use the space behind the horse,  but not create conflict, I created a train made out of words related to industrialization, and the advancement of technology. The horse and train being together are supposed to represent the transition from old to new. As the 1880s is when industrialization and advancement into the modern age began to start.
Since the image is an illustration, I am presenting the design in a frame, to get an idea of what it would look like.
This was my first draft after my sketches. Originally I had the shadow visible and clear, but it conflicted with the figure of the horse, making the overall image have too much. The sky and sun were originally close to each other in color, creating a problem for visibility. So I opted to change the color of the sun and sky to create more of a contrast. Finally, The space behind the horse was too empty.
In my Type and Image class, I was tasked with creating a Zeitgeist made of typography, based on a historical time period in the U.S. I decided on the 1880s, and here I was trying to sketch out ideas based on major aspects of the 1880s, such as industrialization, or how the time is connected to ideas of the wild west.
