It's time for another tasty assortment from my collaboration with UpsideDownShark and their 'Bedtime Stories' series! This time around, they wanted me to illustrate the second chapter of their madcap Wizard of Oz / Avengers mashup, following the (frankly astounding) designs of the chap that provided them with part one. It was rather nice (for once) being able to dive straight into the story without having to worry about getting the characters to look right first; especially since their were - Yikes! - 16 illustrations I have to do! Presented here is the first 8, with the rest to follow in part the second. As we join the story, the mighty OzVengers are heading to New Emerald City.... But, being superheores, they feel the need to vent a bit of frustration first:
While Thorothy battles the unstuffable Scarehulk.....
Iron Tinman and The Captain slug it out....
And the Cowardly Hawklion tries to woo The Good Widow with the weapons of love! Sorry, pal, I don't think it's workin'.
Eventually, though, they kiss and make up, and continue on their mission to New Emerald City....
Only to find that Agent Coulson, munchkin of S.H.I.E.L.D, has been brutally snuffed out!
"Why no-one tell Scarehulk puny humans come pre-smashed? Would have saved Scarehulk lot of trouble..."
Scouting on ahead, Iron Tinman finds that the Eeeevil Loki of the West has torn open a dimensional rift
from the top of OzStark tower....
From which emerges an army of flying Chitauri Monkeys! Oh, I say!
The Captain makes the call: "OzVengers: Assemble!"
