We designed this label in 2009 for a local boutique winery, Inner City Winemakers. They were seeking to establish a new range of wines that would celebrate the winery's heritage. To create a signature look, we featured the original indenture, or contract, for the land the winery sits on, complemented by a title font reminiscent of handcrafted calligraphy. The title font is a sophisticated Opentype font with numerous contextual ligature and swash options that allowed us to create a truly unique letterform. We wanted to extend the vintage feel to a deckle style edge but due to budgetary constraints, opted instead for a square finish label that mimicked a rough edge. 

When we recently discovered Inner City Winemakers were still using the design 14 years later, we decided to revisit the project and create a series of updated renders in Modo with Octane. Salute!
