My Story with Frida Khalo

This Frida project started in 2020 when I did a composition course and my assignment was to work and explore femininity, because according to my teacher, it was something that I felt very strongly about, and he was right.

From an early age I always felt connected to Frida’s art and her view of the world. After I researched and knew more about Frida’s life, I realised we had a few things in common. I felt more connected to her, Frida became my inspiration and my muse.

Frida endured a lot of pain and struggled all her life, but this didn’t stop her; painting gave meaning to her life and was the vehicle used to express her feelings and perception of the world around her.

I selected images of Frida that reflected her individualities and my own. This project was a collaboration with my partner. We share a love of photography and identify with the strong bond Frida had with Diego Rivera, her life partner, through their art and creativity.
We enjoyed the process and will continue to explore similar projects, if you are interested in projects like this, contact us.
