In 2021, we made the layout and illustration of the Cartilha do Povo de Terreiro, launched by the mandate of the State Deputy of Rio Grande do Sul, Luciana Genro. The content was prepared by practitioners of African religions, appointed to the deputy's team, under the coordination of Carla Zanella and Ingra Costa e Silva. The publication's accessible language seeks to expand the reach of the ancestral knowledge that African and Afro-Brazilian religions preserve. Additionally, the main objective of the guide, certainly, is to combat racism and religious prejudice towards traditional communities, terreiros*, deities, and religious practices.
Each orisha* mentioned in the Guide was illustrated based on extensive research of visual references and symbolism carried out by the coordinators, in partnership with us, from Studio Cactus. We used warm colors, predominantly earth-tones, in a combination evoking the power of the forces of nature. The chosen typography is sans serif, linear, expressive and refers to handwriting. We used a combination of photo and vector collage, with the application of a granular texture, which contributes to the organic and affective aesthetic.

*Terreiro is the place where religious ceremonies are held. Likewise, various celebrations are held outdoors, close to nature, in rivers, waterfalls or on the beach. These ceremonies are presided over by a "father" or "mother": a kind of spiritual leader who directs the rites and commands the house.
*Orishas are gods worshiped by many practitioners of African religions.

Em 2021 fizemos a diagramação e ilustração da Cartilha do Povo de Terreiro, lançada pelo mandato da Deputada Estadual do Rio Grande do Sul, Luciana Genro. O conteúdo foi elaborado por integrantes que são de religião de matriz africana e trabalham na equipe da deputada, sob a coordenação de Carla Zanella e Ingra Costa e Silva. A linguagem acessível da publicação, procura ampliar o alcance dos conhecimentos ancestrais que as religiões de matriz africana e afro-brasileiras preservam. E o objetivo maior da Cartilha, certamente, é enfrentar o racismo e preconceito religioso para com comunidades tradicionais, terreiros, divindades e práticas religiosas.
Cada orixá mencionado na Cartilha foi ilustrado, a partir de ampla pesquisa de referências visuais e de simbolismos, realizada pelas coordenadoras, em parceria com a gente, da Studio Cactus. Utilizamos cores quentes, predomínio de tons terrosos, em um combinação que remete ao poder das forças da natureza. A tipografia escolhida é sem serifa, linear, expressiva e remete à escrita manual. Usamos a combinação de colagem de fotografias e vetores, com a aplicação de uma textura granular, que contribui para a estética orgânica e afetiva.
