Description: This 2.4m long sculptural pendant light is inspired by the hull structure of a boat and wing of an aircraft. Due to it’s structural nature the form of this piece changes as you move around it. The Hull pendant light is constructed from CNC cut sustainable plywood and any commercially available timber veneer or laminate can be applied to the surface to produce an endless range of textures and colours.
Laser & CNC cutting maximises the number of components that can be achieved from a standard sheet of plywood therefore reducing wastage. Uplighting and downlighting is provided by three strips of energy efficient LED lights.
Materials: Sustainable plantation grown hoop pine plywood or birch plywood and exposed warm white high brightness energy efficient LED strip lights as standard. Light shown is black stained birch plywood.
Finish: Osmo natural oil. Osmo is based on natural vegetable oils and waxes. It is low VOC and does not contain benzene, biocides or perservatives.
Price: 2350 long x 600 wide (at widest point) x 200mm deep (at deepest point) standard pendant light, $2495. The light shown is birch plywood with a black stain, $2695. Prices for changes to the standard finish or lighting type are available upon request.
Comments: The Hull pendant light was shorlisted for Workshopped 13. Workshopped is the single largest event on the Australian Product Design calendar.
