CRT 101 Introduction to Prototyping - Intermediate Project
ROCKET CLOCK
By: Bailey Henderson
Project Description:
This project aimed to create an interactive lamp that incorporated elements of 3D and 2D printing technology. The lamp I created is supposed to replicate the launch of a rocket. My interactive aspect is the ability of my lamp to change colors and patterns based on the time of day. Starting at 8:00 AM, the light switches colors every hour until 12:00 AM.

Process:
To produce the best final product, a particular design process was followed. I created an initial concept sketch, a foamcore prototype, a functional prototype, and an aesthetic prototype. The sketch presented a general idea of what I wanted my project to look like. The foamcore prototype allowed me to experiment with different shapes and measurements. Afterward, I started working on the functional prototype, where I wrote all the code on the Arduino software to make my lamp interactive. During this step, I also incorporated some neopixels. Lastly, I began to use more aesthetically appealing materials such as plywood, poly-fil, metal wire, and a 3D-printed rocket. All these steps can be seen in the collage below.
