The Stone Villa
Dammam , KSA

“Solitude matters, and for some people, it’s the air they breathe” Susan Cain

The villa design concept is centered around a bold stone massing with strong vertical and horizontal lines that define the project’s boundaries. This massing is comprised of natural materials that reinforce the overall concept of the house. Local natural stone walls are used to demarcate the boundary and garden areas, while cut stone fin walls highlight the natural wood openings. The use of natural materials is a key feature of the design, and the stone and wood elements are chosen for their warmth and texture. The stone massing is tilted at the edges, which allows for indirect light to penetrate the interior spaces, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

second proposal ” Mashrabiya”
Natural materials are employed to reinforce the concept of the house - local natural stone walls to the boundary and garden, cut stone fin walls emphasize openings made of natural wood. Mashrabiya screens of bronze aluminium and concrete provide privacy and modulate light to the interiors which are warm and filled with natural light.

Basement
The basement of the villa features an open courtyard that is accessed by a flight of stairs from the ground floor. The courtyard is surrounded by lush greenery and is designed to provide a serene and calming space that can be used for relaxation and recreation. The floor of the courtyard is made of
rectangular concrete slabs that are arranged in a random pattern, creating a unique and visually striking effect. Along the edges of the courtyard, there are several rectangular concrete benches that are embedded into the floor. These benches provide a comfortable seating area where visitors can relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.
