The Bon Odori festival, a traditional Japanese festival to honor the ancestors.

 

The style of the design was built upon melding the old traditions with a modern flavor and of minimalism. I choose to keep the logo very simple, theming it upon the very land this tradition hails from. The strong characters of the OBON are to show the strength of the traditions and also stand out against the gracefulness of the rising sun coming from behind the logo.
