Mammy's Coo Coo Calaloo

This project inspired by the poem Mammy's Coo Coo Calaloo. The poem talks about the cooking the Mammy does for the family and how wonderful it is, but does little to address the women who slaves in the kitchen to create these meals. The mammy has been removed as the subject and has become an object. She is the object that lives to serve and cook food for the family. I wanted to physically represent the dehumanzation and objectification of the mammy figure. I have done so by turning the mammy into a domestic object: a pot.
Sketching some concepts out.
Pre firing.
