Entropica Labs is a startup that uses quantum computing to solve the hardest enterprise optimisation problems, and using optimisation to advance the performances of quantum computers.

Visual identity between Olivetti, space exploration, and Golden Age science fiction

The CEO of Entropica Labs wanted the company’s visual identity to be inspired by Olivetti, a bold and innovative Italian typewriters manufacturer. From the 1940s to the 1960s, Olivetti industrial design was led by Marcello Nizzoli, which resulted in the launch of  distinctive, iconic products. The company was also famous for its creative and design oriented marketing collaterals.

Another element that influenced the direction I took is the company’s slogan: Per Aspera ad Quantum, Per Quantum ad Astra (To quantum through challenges, To the stars through quantum). I have added a “space exploration mood” to convey the slogan’s message.

Finally, I've added a touch of Golden-Age-Science-Fiction look that ties both to the above mentioned Olivetti design era, and, naturally, to space exploration. But the main reason why I've added this SF Golden Age touch is that it is reminiscent of a time where science was bringing a sense of awe to people. It resonates well with the Entropica Lab’s will to convey hope and breach new frontiers with quantum computing.

Quantum algorithms are graphically represented with squares on parallel horizontal lines. Beside the retro mood, this is what I had in mind when I created the E mark.
