During my project into the appearance of the world I explored various routes including the history of hippies, psychedelic drugs and spirituality. 

The overall theme we were given for this unit was The earth, The sky and The Sea; in response to this I created a mind map and mood board exploring the various routes I could take during this project. I decided on the ‘appearance of the world’ in relation to psychedelics and spirituality.

Collage: In relation to my initial theme I decided to create two separate collages focusing on colour and composition. 

Landscape Art: During my fine art lesson I explored landscape art focusing on existing artists such as Julie Brook. I explored photography and using natural mediums found in the landscape to create artwork. 

During my project I visited the British Art Show in Plymouth and London to explore new and existing artists to inspire and direct my project. In response to the artwork I saw I created a series of five collages of imagery from the various locations I visited. 

Throughout this project I experimented with a variety of mediums including photography, fashion and graphics as well as research into various artists that influenced my projects direction. 

In response to my artist research on Louise Bourgeois I created four artist responses combining photography and drawing to represent how you can alter and change the appearance of a photo. 

Focusing on the medium of photography and how it can be used to altered the appearance of the outside world I decided to create a variety of samples focusing on editing using Photoshop and then using digital sublimation to explore an additional medium. 

Planning: For my final outcome I decided to take inspiration from my digital sublimation samples combining photography and textiles in one piece. I like the idea of using photography to tell a story through collaging or manipulating the images.  

Print Design: I designed two fabric prints using imagery from key aspects of my life to link to my theme of the appearance of the world as it tells a story of my life and my perception of the world. 

Final Outcome: I created my final outcome using three separate sheets of fabric featuring the print I designed and then backed the fabric with calico. Once this was complete I cut each image out separately and sewn them into the unique shape to create the wall hanging.
