'Peach Darling' Ura the Oni

Ura the Oni is inspired by a traditional Japanese Yokai or demon, infamous for their cannibalism and evil reputation. However, during recent times, Onis have been reformed as an omen for dispelling bad luck. His design is influenced by Wukou pirates or “fallen samurais” to reflect his rebellion towards mankind. As for weapons, I decided to make creative use of sea fish like the pufferfish as a spike ball and the Japanese oarfish for a lethal club.
The dark sea is inspired by bioluminescent waters that can be found all over the world as well as Japanese boulders found on the beaches of Japan. A skull lamp possessed by the spirit of one of the deceased boatsmen that informs the gang to stay vigilant.
