Happier Refillable Toothpaste Dispenser
Happier Beauty approached Beta in March 2021 to design the first reusable toothpaste dispenser with an innovative design that houses biodegradable refill capsules.

Beta questioned the way toothpaste is bought and used and spent the last year designing a patented refill solution. After continued market analysis, testing and iterative product development, Beta created an innovative pump that rethinks the way a user interacts with toothpaste and its dispensing system.

The Brief
Beta was challenged with the brief to create a design that was a game changer in the toothpaste industry. Beta subsequently developed the world’s first endlessly reusable toothpaste dispenser with biodegradable refill capsules. This product will be another big step towards eliminating standard toothpaste tubes that are notoriously difficult to recycle and result in 1.5 billion plastic toothpaste tubes ending up in landfill every year.
Design Development
The toothpaste dispenser is made from aluminium and 50% recycled plastic, with the refill capsules manufactured from biodegradable bioplastic. These capsules have been designed to utilise a subscription model, along with the reusable dispenser in the first subscription order.
Founder of Happier Beauty, Faye Wilson, said: “It is becoming clear that recycling will not save us from the climate crisis, and so Happier Beauty wanted to take it one step further by creating a truly circular refillable and reusable solution.

Colour, Material, Finish
The final design reflects Happier Beauty’s existing range of products, which offer a sleek aesthetic, allowing them to be displayed on bathroom counters alongside stylised beauty products. The dispenser comes in four colours: mint, pink, peach and white.
