Making Volcanoes is a scientific exhibition and accompanying catalog that focuses on the process of volcanic formation and eruption. For the design, I chose to stay away from traditional earthen tones and harsh styles of illustration that feel overused in regards to the subject. Instead, I chose to design with a fun, whimsical style of illustration that was still clear and informative. The typeface National was chosen because it could stylistically match the heaviness of the subject while providing multiple weights to create clear visual hierarchy.
