In India, detergent bars are more commonly used than detergent powder.
Our assignment was to design the packaging for a detergent bar named 'Jhakaas!', originally a Marathi word, which means 'Superb!' in English.
My packaging design has a comic book style with a superheroine mascot named Mrs. Dhobin. Dhobin is a Hindi word for a washerwoman. In India, a dhobi (washerman) or dhobin goes from door to door collecting dirty laundry and returns them in a day or two, washed and ironed. Dhobis and dhobins are popular with most Indian households as they charge lesser than dry cleaners.
A dhobi/dhobin uses a washing bat to wash clothes.
Translated from Hindi - 'WHEN MRS. DHOBIN ARRIVES, THE WASHING IS DONE SUPERBLY!'
