Although we live in a digital age, human beings still have a strong attachment to the material, as well as a desire for the tangible. There continues to be a dissatisfaction in part of us with 2D, flat and incapable of haptic interaction, the screen world rejects any kind of physically experienceable surface structure of any kind. However, there are those who try to solve this lack of connection of the two worlds by creating hybrid techniques and products - which was precisely the main goal of this project. Given my fascination and appreciation for the digital aesthetics of old games, such as from arcade and console games, I thought of a way to bring that reality to the paper and material object material, without it being just an imitation. For this, I chose games whose pixel is visually remarkable and that, in translation to the techniques used in intaglio, became an imperfect and more organic version of the digital source image. For this I used the techniques of etching and aquatint (with acrylic spray), which transformed the shades of gray into a grain that resembles physical reality more than a homogeneous tone. To contextualize the prints and to avoid them getting lost floating on a white sheet, I decided to connect the print to the paper support through an embossing of the Game Boy Advance Game Boy Advance console (so as not to be visually shocking).
