Eugene, the second largest city in Oregon after Portland, is noted for its natural environment and recreational opportunities. The city operates and maintains scenic hiking trails that pass through and across the ridges of a cluster of hills in the southern portion of the city, on the fringe of residential neighborhoods.
Seen here are the glowing city lights from the viewpoint of Eugene’s Skinner Butte. Just a quick 15-minute drive away is the edge of the city, beyond which are forests, farms and uninterrupted views of the night sky.
