Drying For Freedom is an environmental feature documentary about how people’s freedoms are affected by restrictions on clothes line usage and how this intertwines with the negative effect electricity usage is having on the planet. During the marketing stages of the film the project was looking for fun ways to promote and represent itself.

The idea to use caricature dolly pegs was developed as a fun visual that had obvious ties with the themes of the documentary. Initially used to reach out to prominent people and celebrities across social media by creating a peg portrait of the individual in the hope of generating comment and interest. The peg concept later become an incentive for potential financial contributors on fundraising websites, with the offer of a personalised peg portrait for everyone contributing over a certain level of funding. The final incarnation of the concept was the design and illustration of the official alternative one sheet poster for the film. The idea behind the poster was to convert all the contributors from the documentary in to clothes peg characters to create a cheerful, colourful print.
