The New Zurich Times is Switzerland’s most prestigious and oldest newspaper creates awareness for the importance of objective journalism and its essential element: an open debate. By uncovering crucial elements of world famous press pictures, the film shows how serious journalism brings understanding to a troubled world: “When the debate falls silent, voice your words.“.

I was initially approached by the talented Swiss Studio, StoriesAG to conceptualize and design the visual and metaphorical mechanism of the cursor. What it did what it did and how it manipulated image, changing or even revealing the truth with a simple click of a button. The edit and motion design seamlessly flowed from there.

Experimental Production Frames

The film builds on the iconic press image and shows what happens when not the whole image, but only sections are shown or things are deliberately removed: A new, embellished view emerges. The goal was to tell the complexity of today's world on film with the differentiated view of the NZZ with valuable content. The current campaign builds a bridge to the readership and addresses what journalism triggers and what value it has for users in dealing with the social and political challenges of the present. What lies below are some of the initial experimental frames and motion tests that gave life to the concept and project.
