SYNESTHESIA
RISOGRAPH ZINE / POSTER
This zine explores synesthesia, which is the overlapping of senses. The poster is a visual representation of a skull with lines passing through each of the "senses" locations with the word "Synesthesia" in a wave-like pattern to mimic this flowing of the senses. The zine itself, includes two of the main types of synesthesia, lexical gustatory (the overlapping of taste/hearing and food) and grapheme-colour (seeing words and numbers as colours.) Between each of these, are transparent sheets with printed symbols on them depending on which type the page is talking about. This transparency, allows the viewer to "overlap" these senses on top of each other to visually highlight the way these senses work with each other. Additionally, the use of the risograph, adds another layer of this overlapping theme, as you are able to print colours on top of each other in order to create the sense that they are becoming "one."
