Illustrations for a book documenting the design-build studio Learn-Move-Play-Ground and its process of improving courtyards of public primary schools in Cairo, Egypt. Students form Egypt and Germany worked with a team of professors and experts from different fields to realize, through participation with the children and teachers, a new playing landscape in the schools.
The book offers ideas and hints of possible solutions, which could be developed for further projects and design-build studios. The realized furniture and landscapes are simple, low-cost and built with uncomplicated techniques. This grants the developed designs the power of being flexible and adaptable, as their functions and meanings are open to different uses and can be re-adapted in line with the imagination and dreams of the children.
