A brief created by XL Recordings and D&AD where we have to produce creative response on certain important moment of XL Recordings Label. From 20 selected events from the brief, banned music video "Smack My Bitch Up" by the Prodigy became our choice. An illustrated poster and an online exhibition video were the produced to accomplish our response. This is a collaboration project by Andre Aditya Manggala and Dionarta Santoso Wijoyo as a part of Professional Association and Collaboration class, in Northumbria University Newcastle.
The Supper is a visual representation of the controversial song “Smack My Bitch Up” by the English band The Prodigy. The music video, released in 1997 provoked many dispute, one that reaches the nation’s very own House of Common. This concept aims to represent the extreme clash between censorship and freedom of expression. Served in the middle of the parliament’s discussion table is a two-sided feast of a naked woman which stands for the explicit video itself, one side consumed by the band themselves with such aggressiveness and another side by the authorities with such restraint.
