ILM 2012 VFX Reel - title graphics
The titles for the Industrial Light & Magic 2012 Siggraph electronic theater reel were created using traditional stop motion animation techniques. I created puppets and miniature sets, in a nostalgic style, like old children's cartoons. They were filmed over a few days of shooting, very rapidly, so they do have a sort of unrefined look. Karen Wong animated with me on these, it was super fun work.

Here are the finished transitions on their own (without the visual effects breakdowns for the ILM films). Sound design was by Skywalker Sound...
Some of the puppets and props I fabricated for the Industrial Light and Magic vfx highlight reel project...
These are frames from the sequences as shot, before color adjustments, etc...
Here is the finished reel on ILM's youtube channel, editing by Brent Bowers and sound by Skywalker Sound. My work is at the beginning and the very end, after Hulk punches Thor into one of my puppet sequences...
Here are my storyboards and character concepts that I used to define the project and plan the shots...
And frames from the battleship section, followed by the vfx reel from ILM's youtube channel...
Here is the finished reel on ILM's youtube channel, editing by Brent Bowers and sound by Skywalker Sound. My work is just at the beginning, but it's so fun to watch these effects breakdowns...
