Love & Hate is the second season of Todd Sampson’s investigative series, Mirror Mirror, which aired on Network 10. The two-part documentary interrogates the dangers of social media and the internet, highlighting how these technologies are abused. It explores how this abuse is facilitated by technology companies, through the creation of systems and algorithms that exploit natural human weakness for profit.
Never Sit Still had the opportunity to collaborate with Todd and the wider team to design and animate the title sequence, various graphic sequences and supers that featured within the documentary.
We brought a fresh look to the returning season, inspired heavily by the bright, flat and bold visual language of modern UI and social media. The amicable and inoffensive visuals deliberately contrast to the sinister actions of large technology corporations, and the insidious harm abuse of their technologies have caused the younger generation and everyday individuals.
