I made this WordPress theme from scratch in 2009. I wanted a responsive (‘fluid’ in 2009 parlance), typography-driven layout that was content-rich and exciting. My work here anticipated the move toward ‘flat’ designs.
I put together this word cloud created from more than 1000 college and university taglines using the Wordle web app. The cloud was the centerpiece of a blog entry on tagline language that I published in April 2011.
I created the blog erelevant.net in 2006 to write about digital marketing, higher education, and web culture. During its five year run, the blog facilitated some interesting connections: I was interviewed by University Business for an article on cybersquatting, and my tagline project preceded (inspired?) work by respected marketing firm Simpson Scarborough.
