"City Code" is a research exhibition integrated into urban space. The aim of the exhibition is to find and express the self-identity of the city, the differences and peculiarities that set it apart from other cities, without the archaic talk of architectural monuments. In their works the authors present a broad view of the city, not limited to the usual tourist patterns: white nights, drawbridges, Palace Square. The artists appeal to the magic of St. Petersburg, visible to the citizens and loved by them.

"Код города" - это исследовательская выставка, интегрированная в городское пространство. Цель выставки — найти и выразить самоидентичность города, различия и особенности, которые отличают его от других городов, без архаичных разговоров об архитектурных памятниках. В своих работах авторы представляют широкий взгляд на город, не ограничиваясь привычными туристическими шаблонами: белые ночи, разводные мосты, Дворцовая площадь. Художники обращаются к магии Петербурга, видимой горожанами и любимой ими.

We did each part of the exhibition trying to get away from templates and references as much as possible. The first part of the exhibition was on city-formats all over the city, the second — on the towers-tours in the courtyard of the Berthold Center. Gift sets for artists and partners are also unusual.

Каждую часть выставки мы делали стараясь максимально отходить от шаблонов и референсов. Первая часть выставки — на сити-форматах по всему городу, вторая — на вышках-турах во дворе Бертгольд центра. Подарочные наборы для художников и партнеров тоже необычные.
Упаковывали в вакуумную упаковку (от чего нас тоже все отговаривали, потому что так никто не делает, но мы сделали и получилось супер). Каждый набор немного по-разному выглядит, потому что что процесс забора воздуха резкий и неконтролируемый.

The set includes a metal badge and a signal bag. We found a workwear manufacturer and slightly modified the pattern of the signal vest (overalls of housing workers, construction workers, etc.) sewed a signal bag with two kinds of handles. If you look at the person carrying the bag from the side, it will seem that he is in a vest as one of the most important people for the city. Also the bag comes with 2 eyes — you can put them anywhere on the bag and thus create a new character of a city dweller. The loose eyes formed different character faces on the bags. And each participant and partner received their own character pack.

В наборе металлический значок и сигнальная сумка. Мы нашли производство спецодежды и немного изменив лекало сигнального жилета (спецодежды ЖКХ работников, строителей и тд) отшили сигнальную сумку с двумя видами ручек. Если смотреть на человека, несущего сумку сбоку, будет казаться, что он в жилете как один из важнейших людей для города. Также к сумке идут 2 глаза — их можно поместить на сумку в любое место и тем самых создав нового персонажа-жителя города. Незакрепленные глаза образуют разные характерные рожицы упаковкам. И каждый участник и партнер получил своего персонажа-набор.

The catalog is a set of posters: the posters are hard to see until you take apart the catalog by removing the staples. The cover was printed separately, as most printers refused to print the cover with stickers. For the cover, I collected signs around the city: in subways, cafes, buses, house walls, ads, etc. It was important to collect the different visual languages of the city. I combined all of this on the cover and it's all stickers — you can make up your own cover and change the space around it.

Каталог — это набор постеров: постеры сложно рассмотреть пока не разобрать каталог, сняв скрепки. Обложка печаталась отдельно, так как большинство типографий отказывалось печатать обложку со стикерами. Для обложки я собирала знаки по городу: в метро, кафе, автобусах, стенах домов, объявлений и тд. Было важно собрать разные визуальные языки города. Все это я совместила на обложке и все это стикеры — можно составить свою обложку и поменять пространство вокруг.
