The book is based on photographs documenting the creation of the city of Tychy from the 1950s-1980s, taken by Zygmunt Kubski, the author's grandfather, and held in the collection of the Tychy City Museum. By framing and juxtaposing fragments of photographs, the author looks at everyday life and its characters. She follows random characters in photographs, looking for familiar faces, interested in gestures and movement. She looks at them on small fragments of photographs, because the author decided to devote almost entire frames to the city space. Freely plays a game between the photographer's gaze and his own way of seeing this collection. The graphic design follows the principles of using the detail defined by the author. Typography mimics the playful scale of the elements, compositions of the photos guide reader through the spreads. Seemingly motionless photos are thriving with movement when enlarged, some of the pictures are divided between the spreads to highlight this effect. The use of two colors and two different types of halftones emphasize the structure of the book. The use of a non-standard printing method – risography – made it possible to obtain effects referring to the times when the photographs were taken. As a result, each copy is unique and the photographic material has a raw, newspaper-like feel. The haptic features of the book are an important part of the design. The photographs are accompanied by Justyna Balisz-Schmelz's text In the "Shadow of Socialist Utopia", and a commentary by the author. The publication is an artbook – it does not have a separate book cover, and the printing method does not have full permanence. Printing ink can leave marks on the hands of the viewer and transfer to other parts of the book.

Książka powstała na bazie archiwum fotografii dokumentujących powstawanie miasta Tychy z lat 50–80 XX w., autorstwa Zygmunta Kubskiego, znajdujących się w kolekcji Muzeum Miejskiego w Tychach. Przez kadrowanie i zestawianie ze sobą fragmentów fotografii, autorka przygląda się życiu codziennemu i jego bohaterom. Użycie niestandardowej metody druku – risografii – pozwoliło uzyskać efekty nawiązujące do czasów powstania zdjęć. Cechy haptyczne książki są istotnym elementem projektu. Przez kadrowanie i zestawianie ze sobą fragmentów fotografii, autorka przygląda się życiu codziennemu i jego bohaterom. Podąża za przypadkowymi postaciami na zdjęciach, poszukuje znajomych twarzy, interesują ją gesty, ruch. Przygląda się im na niewielkich fragmentach fotografii, bo niemal całe kadry autor zdecydował się poświęcić przestrzeni miasta. W swobodny sposób prowadzi grę między spojrzeniem autora fotografii a własnym sposobem widzenia tego archiwum. Projekt graficzny książki naśladuje wyznaczony przez Barbarę Kubską sposób odczytywania detali fotografii. Warstwa typograficzna powiela swobodna zabawę skalą elementów, a kompozycje zdjęć w sposób przemyślany wyznaczają kierunki za którymi podąża wzrok czytelnika. Pozornie statyczne zdjęcia dokumentacyjne w powiększeniu tętnią życiem, wszyscy uwiecznieni na nich przechodnie pozostają w ruchu. Otwarte kompozycje zdjęć przechodzących pomiędzy rozkładówkami ten efekt utrwalają. Użycie dwóch kolorów i odpowiadających im rodzajów rastra podkreśla wewnętrzny podział publikacji. Publikacja ma charakter artbooka – nie posiada osobnej oprawy, a metoda druku nie ma pełnej trwałości. Farba drukarska może pozostawiać ślady na dłoniach oglądającego i przenosić się na inne części książki. Fotografiom towarzyszy tekst Justyny Balisz-Schmelz W cieniu socjalistycznej utopii oraz komentarz odautorski.
