Expanded reading. The problems of Isolation:

Social isolation is an absence of social relationships. It is distinct from solitude, which is simply the state of being alone.

Research has found that Isolation can increase the risks of mental & health issues such as depression, dementia, cognitive decline, heart troubles,
social anxiety, low self-esteem, and a weakened immune system... For example, a person might develop depression because of intense loneliness, then feel even more isolated because of their depression.

Social isolation and loneliness strikes the most vulnerable groups in society hardest. Two of the most exposed groups are those of people over the age of 80 years and children and young adults with long-term illness.

Note: Estimates correspond to people who report feeling lonely "some of the time", "most of the time", or "almost all the time". This is in contrast to those that report feeling lonely "rarely", "almost none of the time", or "never".
