Rock In Prevention Expands to Focus on Mental Health

Music-centered, Rock In Prevention is a learning platform that integrates the online curriculum at Rock Digi with classroom applications. The program focuses on building empathy, awareness, and self-management, while providing tools that safeguard against bullying and substance abuse. In early 2022, Rock In Prevention expanded its curriculum to focus more on providing mental health resources.
Designed for grades seven to 12, Rock Digi’s Mental Health, SEL, and Substance Abuse Prevention Curriculum offers topics designed to improve mental health, paired with practical resources. Students gain insight into the symptoms and signs of issues such as depression and anxiety. At the same time, they access coping techniques for grief and loss, along with pathways toward developing healthy habits.
The curriculum also extends to education on the dangers posed by drugs such as opioids, vaping, and binge drinking. The emphasis is on taking time to assess social situations and ultimately make decisions that are healthy and wise. Elements of the new curriculum include student assessments and discussion questions that can be completed independently or in groups.
Among the drill-down activities that reinforce lessons are student-created videos and artwork, and analytical constructs such as charts and graphs. In addition, a School Home Partnership encourages students to sit down with family members and watch whiteboard animations, while also answering questions.
