Rock In Prevention is an educational program, accessible online via Rock Digi, with a basis in music. Skills focused, Rock In Prevention provides a framework that rests on the principles of the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL).

CASEL rests on asking core questions throughout the day such as “how do my actions make those surrounding me feel?” and “will acting without thinking potentially harm others?” Students are also encouraged to pose the question, “how am I able to be of service to others?”

Gaining such social awareness skills requires a safe environment in which students and teachers can feel comfortable in sharing emotions with no judgment involved. Reaching out to others without judgment encourages a culture of caring and support, and enables academic growth and learning. Lessons that emphasize social awareness skills include those such as “Accepting Others” (grades 2-4) and “World Empathy” (grades 7-9).
