Deer sweet deer, they always carry a burden, a heavy burden but a sweet one. This is actually an awesome coincidence. While I was working on this my paper cutting paper overlapped with another picture I was working on, which was a lino print of a rose.

Lost 麋鹿 迷路 This is a pun on the Chinese word for deer which also sounds like the Chinese word for losing your way. The chain in the deer’s antlers represents the intense fear of being trapped in the forest.

freedom and burden When I was a kid I was always curious about a deer’s antlers. I never understood what the antlers were for. They seemed to be a useless heavy burden. Until one day I saw a bird’s nest built in a deer’s antlers. After that I have always had a different fantasy about deers’ antlers . I think the bird nest is also a part of the burden. The deer will be free when they let the bird fly away.
