Calligraphic Embroideries

Typography

The main idea in this project was to connect two arts —
the fast (expressive calligraphy) and the slow one (hand embroidery).
It makes you think about the deceitfulness of time.

Time is like a car with an unreliable motor — one moment is stalls, the next moment it accelerates.
Moments of joy slip through the fingers. Things which you want to leave behind stretch to eternity.
Slow embroidery along the contour of expressive calligraphy is an attempt
to make the moment last and the inability to accelerate it.

This project was exhibited at Typomania Moscow International Festival in 2019.
Two pieces from this project (Uncertainty and Mourn) are now in the collection of Letterform Archive.
In 2020 Calligraphic Embroideries received ADC Silver Cube
and Communication Arts Award of Excellence.
