HRA Hall of Fame Identity and Programme

Brief

The Hawaii Restaurant Association (HRA) holds its annual Hall of Fame to honor and recognize distinguished individuals and groups that help elevate and promote the Hawaiian cuisine landscape and the culinary community.

Recovering from the 2019 COVID pandemic, the HRA community relied on the spirit of Aloha (love) and Kuleana (responsibility) to help restaurants throughout the island thrive and grow. This is when true champions rise and stand above the rest.

For its 14th Annual Hall of Fame Induction the HRA wanted to recognize these industry advocates and heroes. With its major sponsor donning the colors black and red, the association wanted to honor their legacy by using their colors as the theme of the identity.

Design Approach

The design is heavily influenced by Art Deco motif and typography. The organizers requested a classy and elegant style for the visual language to properly convey the essence of the event and its whole purpose.  Because of the geometric glyphs, I Was able to take advantage of using the O as an allusion to a plate and serve as the logomark for the Hawaiian cuisine that the event and organizers represent.
