Star Trek Uniforms
A portfolio piece was engineered specifically for a target retailer that we would like to work for. As a science fiction fan and having the desire to design and create fashion and costuming for film and television, my profolio piece was geared around the discussion of the new Star Trek uniforms for the 2010 film with Chris Pine and Zachery Quinto.
I understand the patronism to the fans and the original show to keep the original silhouette of the original series to which the film was based on and simple revamp the materials and construction details. However, knowing that Starfleet was very much and intergalactic representation of the United Nations and her Peace Corps, I didn't understand why the silhouette was so simple and not at all realistic to military-like uniforms used in the Peace Corps. I reasearch Millken, a United States Military Uniform and Textile Manufacturer to ascertain the materials used in their uniforms as well as the requirements for duty and uniform policies.
This project is both practically and futuristic in the styling. Why not have the best of both worlds?
