Checko is a chess set designed prioritising function over form.
The shape of the pieces comes from their moves during the game: the Rooks resemble a +, the Knights an L, the Bishops an X and so on. The only pieces which do not follow this logic are the Pawns which can move in a straight direction but also diagonally to seize the
enemy.
The pieces share the same height and only the Pawns are slightly shorter. The cloth base is screen-printed. The 32 wooden pieces are laser cut.
