Two sisters and their brother face out of the picture plane, looking in separate directions. Divided by a depth in the painting, their overlaid shoulders are close but distinct.

The level of all sitters eyes are aligned to unite three distinct people, encouraging the viewer to look right to left across the painting and from back to front.
