The topic I decided to explore for my 4th year industrial design project was harvesting excess or watse energy. Vibration and noise seemed to be an interesting topic and as the urban environment expands vibrations and noise become a great factor in everday life. I explored what technologies would be sutable to harvest vibrations and a useful function for the electricity generated to be used as.
This device uses clear piezo film to absorb the vibrations and convert it to electricity. The transformers in the circuit board amplify the current and the capacitors store it, to then be used by the L.E.D's to be used as lighting or signage.
Design question : How can a device harvest excess energy and put it to practical use?
Project Aim : Develope an innovative design solution that harvests excess energy.
