The performing artists explained that they wanted to be unified in the poster. It was decided that presentation of the dancers would be very important, because we did not want any one dancer to seem more important than another. On top of this there needed to be two groups represented within the one unified group. This was to show the clear seperation between the two programs, one of which is on February 15th and the other on the 22nd. This was by far the largest challenge with this piece.

It was decided to push forward with an abstract form that would contain each dancer's headshot, which was another requirement. To achieve a playful interaction with depth and implying dance we went with a wavy line. This shows movement both when overlapping the type and with the dancers. We also wanted to achieve the illusion of movement and depth. We flipped the portraits opposite of one another and decided on a horizontal orientation so that there wouldn't be an importance to the dancers who would have been on top.
