TIKTOK MEETS FASHION
WHEN : 2021
WHO : LEEDS ARTS UNIVERSITY
WHY : UNIVERSITY PROJECT
WHAT : PUBLICATIONS
First module of my second year at university. This module required us to design a publication inspired by a passion or topic of our choice. My topic was the impact of TikTok on Fashion.

I did a lot of research into this topic as initially all I was looking at was different fashion trends but I soon found out the social media platform had had a much larger impact on the fashion world.

I decided to create 3 publications, each inspired by 3 aspects of TikTok fashion.

One was designed with Fast Fashion in mind, the publication was sloppier, made cheaper, and had much less attention to detail put into the layout and type design.

One book was designed with Sustainability in mind, this publication was on one piece of paper only, had two uses (a poster and a book) and was more sustainably printed.

The third publication was with Mainstream Fashion in mind. This publication was the ‘original’ with the most attention to detail put in, different paper stocks and tighter and slicker bind.

Each publication covered the same topics :
Aesthetics : the different styles that have popped up on the app
How TikTok Changed Fashion This Year : the impact the app has had on the world of fashion
F*ck Fast Fashion : the way the app promotes fast fashion and how damaging this can be
Five Ways TikTok Impacted the Fashion World : looking into ‘influencers’ and their involvement in mainstream fashion
Micro Micro Trends : what is a micro trend and how has TikTok encouraged them?
Mainstream
