The Power of Music

Street Art
Located on Corellistraat in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, this mural pays ode to the Italian composer and violinist of the Baroque era, Arcangelo Corelli. It was painted on the outside wall of an elementary school gymnasium and was created for the school's children to remember and enjoy the power of music. The large female character depicted in this work closes her eyes and smiles, listening to the vibrant sounds of Corelli's violin and cello - and thinking about how it makes her feel and what she dreams about. The colors of the Dutch flag are also subtly incorporated through the orange and blue color scheme of this piece.

Thank you to Writer's Block Leeuwarden for the organization of this project!
Thank you also to Mitch LePon for the photos.
