Dream Gaming Scene
For my Fusion final, I decided to model a feasible, dream gaming setup! I wanted to keep the setup simple, yet really refined and coherent to my personal aesthetic. I wanted to include both natural themes, such as the wooden desk, while also making a bulk of the items very modern and cohesive to the gamer aesthetic. My setup includes two monitors: one for gameplay and one for monitoring the chat during streams. There is also a headset with a retractable mic that can be wore to communicate with other players while playing. As for consoles, this setup includes both a PS4 and a Nintendo Switch. The game disk can be removed from the Playstation, and the Switch can be moved from its dock, where the joycons can be removed! For aesthetic purposes only, the room also has Sailor Moon inspired curtains, a wooden desk, and coordinating wooden shelf.

The gaming chair was created by Matthew Chow and downloaded from GrabCAD.

Why Model All of This?

Video games and gaming technology have always been my absolute greatest passion. The care that goes into the design and inner workings of each component is so inspiring to me. I own a majority of the items in my design, so I really wanted to investigate building them, rather than simply looking at them. The intensity of each design really increased my respect for those who design and build these objects. I barely scratched the surface of what they do, but it was still so very enlightening.

I also wanted to really work on refining my different skills in Fusion, and making an entire room really ensured that I touched all bases in the modeling environment. Along with practicing my modeling skills, setting up the room and the desk allowed me to explore what I would like my setup to look like one day!

Building Process

I began building this model by creating the walls and floor of the room. It was modeled after my own room, which is a perfectly tiny 9ft by 9ft. I added a window to mirror the one that is in my room. From here, I began building the bigger pieces of the room such as the chair, desk, and shelf. Once these were finished, I began to organize each piece that I would build for the desk. I tackled these one by one, and inserted them into my room. Lastly, I added textures and images to different components of the model, which really brought the scene to life.
