The breif was to design the book cover to Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s book One Hundred years of Solitude. The story is a fictional story about a family from Columbia who seek a better life and new home. There find Solitude on the bank of a river and found a Utopic town called Macondo. Macondo becomes a town frequented by unusual and extraordinary events.
Marquez has written the book in a way that to the reader the unusual and extraordinary events that happen seem as if they are normal. This was the inspiration for the cover as when reading as long as the first and last letter of a word are in the same place you can read the words as normal however jumbled the letters in between are.
