Painting Recreation - Rochester Main Street Bridge

This project was a collaborative project done by myself, another 3D artist, and a Photo student at Rochester Insitute of Technology. The purpose of this piece was to recreate and reimagine the work of Colin Campbell Cooper, his Rochester Main Street Bridge Painting in particular. We used Mental Ray for all of the rendering, and for the texturing we used projected texture maps, so when the camera begins to move it still feels like a painting.
My CG partner was responsible for the models on the left side of the image along with the lighting and particle generation of the piece. All of the models on the righthand side were done by myself, as well as all of the texture work.
What I liked most about this piece is that instead of generating my own textures from scratch i decided to use actual colors from the painting itself to really bring it together. The video below is used in an app called "Aurasma". It is set to trigger using the actual painting done by Cooper and is currently being displayed at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, and will remain there for a very long time.
