Based on the theme ‘roads’ this collection is inspired by these poems written by two different authors and they are:-
The Road Not Taken – Robert Frost (1916)
Beyond The Bend in the Road – Fernando Pessoa (1914)
Both the poems are based on roads, but if we dig deeper, we will notice that along with roads the poets are also talking about life. In Robert Frost’s poem, he is talking about making a choice or taking a firm decision. He wants us to weight all the pros and cons before taking any step, because you never know which decision could be the difference-making one! Blindly following what others have done would reflect our sheep mentality, so basically he wants us to break that trail and think different. Once a decision is made the option should not exist, because one way leads to the other and we might never get the chance to come back and avail that option. We should be so sure of our decision that we never regret it.
In Fernando Pessoa’s poem he is asking us to focus on the present. We should not waste too much time thinking about the future, we should let the future unfold itself. Similarly, we do not know what is there beyond that bend in the road, and we should not worry about it; we should not waste time on that. For the people there that is the road and for us whatever is there before the bend is the road. What lies ahead could be good or bad and we should learn to take it in our stride.
Further research on the poets and their backgrounds and opinions of different people were taken. This was then summarized; and keeping all this in mind the colour palate, the muse and the style direction was finalized. The project then reached the final stage where, drawing inspiration from all of this, 30 designs were presented and then out of them a five were selected for the collection to be made.
