Kingkiller Chronicles Book Set Cover Redesign

I completed this book set cover design during my enrollment at the New York Institute of Art and Design. I chose to redesign the covers for one of my favorite fantasy series (The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss). Only the first two books of the series have been published as of now so I used clues and theories to make the third cover thematically consistent. The covers utilize contrast, proportion, and symbolism to create visual and conceptual unity across all three books. Unity is also achieved by the monochromatic color schemes used for each book and the analogous color scheme of the book set as a whole. These book cover designs were created in Adobe Illustrator using a combination of shapes, gradients, and masking tools.
Note: The sword illustration is based on the official Caesura sword designed by Patrick Rothfuss and produced by Jalic Inc.
