2021
Brief
Students are required to design a packaging solution for a commercial product of their choice as well as create a physical prototype. Different aspects have to be considered such as material stainability, visual design and if it appeals to the target audience. The solution must include the brand/designer/item name, appropriate graphics and any relevant specifications that need to be included.

Tapioca Pearls
The pearls were originally packaged in LDPE plastic, which is non-resealable and not sustainable. Obtaining these factors helps allow me to create packaging that can be reused and environmentally friendly. To counter this issue, the dried-up pearls will be packaged into a paperboard tube, as the container itself is airtight, allowing the pearls to stay fresh for a long period of time until they get used and consumed. The material itself is recyclable therefore it can be reused for any personal usage, such as extra storage or a plant pot.

In order to The sketch shown before shows a tube with a beige gradient with black dots scattered around the bottom of the tube. The design is inspired by the dessert drink called bubble tea. The colour pallet and patterns present a theme of comfort, as circular and curved elements symbolise harmony and protection. When it came to the customer experience, the main goal was to create a ‘fun and enjoyment experience’. This was presented within the design of the mailer box, where the design on the outside presents as a plain boring brown box, and when the user opens the box, they are presented with bright soft colours.
