Illustrations for an article by Ed Yong about how the pandemic made it clear that science touches everything, and everything touches science.

I used the tarots as metaphor for the complexity and chaoticity of the pandemic issue.

Rather than use different elements in the illustrations I preferred to let the tarots itself speak.

So with this goal I created 12 different tarots for each issue marked by the pandemic and the article (The Pandemic, The Journalist, The Scientific journalist, The Call, The Doctor, The Society, The Politics, The Virus, The Algorithm, The Science, The World, The Quarantine).

I used "The Pandemic" instead of the card “The fool” represented by a fool hat over the world to underscore how the pandemic hasn’t just been a science story. It is an omnicrisis that has warped and upended every aspect of our lives.

Below the final illustrations and the web and magazine layouts.
